A Mere Curiosity

This is random. But I'm curious about blog members' responses to this question: What are the ingredients that you can't live without? I'm referring to those ingredients that you use in nearly all your recipes, so important to your kitchen functioning that, if they ceased to exist, your family would starve and your shelves would be bare?

(For example, my crucial ingredients are rice, tofu, canned tomatoes (fire-roasted or basil and oregano), soy sauce, whole wheat pasta, black beans, canned corn, olive oil, adobo (Goya brand), and brownie mix.)

You are healthy.

Whole wheat pasta, cream cheese, chicken, brown rice, cream of chicken and/or mushroom soup, taco seasoning, and fajita seasoning. I have a major addiction to seasoning packets, actually. It's an issue.

Yeah I agree, your ingredients sound much fancier than mine.

Hmmm... chicken breasts, cream of everything :), garlic powder, onion powder, flour.

believe me, there's nothing fancy about my ingredients...i would say the same thing about you two! if i am using cream of chicken soup, it means i'm doing some hardcore cooking (and that doesn't happen often!)

Chicken Breasts, Cream of ... soups, hamburger, lots of herbs and seasonings, milk, cheese, apples, flour, sugar, powdered sugar (I do a lot of cake decorating), lots of different kinds of pasta, canned tomatoes. I think that's it.

Cheese--lots of cheese. Cheddar is a staple, but we like to branch out. Tortillas, milk, olive oil, fresh garlic, green onions, baby potatoes, good sourdough bread. Pasta sauce (usually the cheap Hunt's kind, but dressed up with sauteed garlic and onions), ans lots of pasta. Canned garbanzo beans, veggie chili, veggie broth, tomato soup, and canned tomatoes of all kinds.

Pasta, tomato sauce (base for a lot of meals), frozen broccoli, milk, eggs, banannas, whole wheat bread, and for number eight I guess it would be pancake mix.

By the way, what is adobo?
